Traditional backup systems are often continuously connected to production environments, making them vulnerable to ransomware, destructive automation, credential compromise, and lateral movement during active incidents. Because attackers know backups are critical to recovery, they are often among the first systems targeted for destruction or encryption.

EtherGap provides real Layer 1 physical isolation between production systems and backup media, helping ensure that recovery infrastructure remains disconnected except during controlled backup windows.

When the air gap is open, the protected network path is physically disconnected. If a connection does not exist, attackers cannot traverse it.
