SCIF Compartmentalization

SCIF Compartmentalization

EtherGap enables physical-layer compartmentalization between classified environments, enforcing isolation boundaries between security domains using real Layer 1 control. Instead of relying solely on VLANs, routing policy, or software enforcement, EtherGap physically determines whether network connectivity exists at all.

Physical Separation Between Security Domains

Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) often contain multiple classification levels and operational compartments requiring strict isolation controls. EtherGap allows each compartment to maintain independent physical network separation while still permitting tightly controlled, intentional connectivity when operationally necessary.

By inserting EtherGap appliances between classified segments, organizations can prevent unintended lateral movement, eliminate persistent network exposure, and ensure that inter-compartment communication only exists during explicitly authorized windows.

Constraint-Based Security

Traditional security models attempt to detect or respond to compromise after network connectivity already exists. EtherGap shifts the model toward constraint-based security by controlling the existence of the physical path itself.

This approach significantly reduces attack surface exposure while simplifying segmentation boundaries inside highly sensitive environments.
